Mascot Care Guide

Follow instructions where applicable 

 

Suit/tail:

Remove padding (If applicable).  Regularly disinfect with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol.  Spot clean with fresh warm water or tub clean cold is recommended.  Machine wash as needed

 

Head: 

Regularly disinfect with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol.  Avoid drenching the eyes (though sealed, the color can still sometimes bleed if exposed to too much moisture or chemicals). Spot clean with fresh warm water.   Surface clean as needed with warm water and mild detergent, rinse repeatedly with wet cloth until detergent is gone.  Gently brush wet, then allow to dry fully in bright, open room (out of direct sunlight) with plenty of airflow.  Once dry, brush gently again to restore volume. Do not store until fully dry.  CAUTION: DO NOT WEAR BEFORE FULLY DRY, OR IF MOLD DEVELOPS WITHIN THE HEAD.

 

Padding:

Foam:  Regularly disinfect with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol.  Tub clean as needed with mild detergent.  Rinse until detergent is gone. Allow to dry fully in bright open room with plenty of airflow. Do not store until fully dry.

Plush:  Regularly disinfect with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol.  Machine wash as needed.  Lay flat to dry.  Once dry, massage padding to restore shape as needed.

 

Feet:

Foam: Regularly disinfect with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol.  Spot clean with fresh warm water.   Surface clean as needed with warm water and mild detergent, rinse repeatedly until detergent is gone.  Allow to dry fully in bright open room with plenty of airflow.  Do not store until fully dry.

Plush:  Regularly disinfect with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol.  Spot clean with fresh warm water.  Machine wash as needed.  Gently brush wet, then lay flat to dry.  Once dry, brush gently again to restore volume.  Massage stuffing to restore shape as needed.  

 

Hands: 

Regularly disinfect with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol.  Tub clean as needed with mild detergent.  Rinse until detergent is gone.  Or machine wash as needed. Lay flat to dry.  Once dry, brush gently to restore volume. 

 

Machine washing instructions:

Front loaded machine only.  Machine wash pieces separately when needed in a washer bag on cold gentle cycle.  Mild detergent should be used conservatively.  Gently brush wet, then lay flat to dry.  Once dry, brush gently again to restore volume.

Pieces made with foam are not machine washable.

 

Disclaimer: Never place fursuit pieces in the dryer.  Always lay flat to air dry.
